![]() If you want to come close to the lasting power of FTL, you may want to consider adding a new mode to the game that doesn't follow the plot, but rather makes you do 5-6 sectors in one run with a nasty boss at the end. Compare that to FTL, where it's easy to sink hundreds of hours into the game. Because the game is so plot heavy, the replayability dips after you have seen all 3 endings. Maybe the enemy ships should dodge it, maybe it should only trigger if there are more of your squads on the board than the enemy's. I didn't have trouble with the chapter 4 boss because a missile barrage killed all of the enemy's squadrons and allowed for an easy counterattack. The boss "missile barrage" ability might need some tweaking.I haven't played hard mode yet, and maybe that fixes this problem, but normal mode simply felt too easy.Compare that to what you find warping into sector 6 in FTL. It's a little bit crazy to see an enemy you would expect to see in the very first level when you're 80% done with the game. There's zero threat from that and therefore zero tension. In both chapters 4 and 5 I got into my first one or two fights, and the enemy had. What really exacerbates the problem is the "you start from scratch every chapter" mechanic.Non-boss enemies just need a buff across the board. After clearing the game on normal, a non-boss ship only once ever got through a hull point. They're just way, way too easy, even the sector bosses. The problem is literally every other fight in the game. The chapter bosses feel right - chapter 2-3 bosses were a hull race where I barely won, and the final fight took me 4 tries before I really got my tactics down. The number two issue in the game is difficulty.I won't belabor the point since you guys already mentioned it in your recent road map. ![]() I think I once fought the child ship like 3 times in one chapter. The number 1 issue in the game is repetition of events. Most are suggestions for improvement, but don't get me wrong, I think it's a great game - the atmosphere, plot, and presentation are amazing, the gameplay is fun, and I found the end very moving. Here are some of my thoughts about the game. Just beat the game on normal and thoroughly enjoyed it. I backed the Crying Suns kickstarter and had been looking forward to giving it a spin on full release.
